What the job involved

Appointed as Principal Contractor under the CDM Regulations 2015, IRS installed a new Structherm structural insulated render system across 89 properties: seven three-storey tenement blocks covering 43 properties, plus 46 end terrace homes.

The three-storey properties received a comprehensive new roofing system with Russell Grampian tiles, around 2,000m² of new roof area, including the removal of redundant chimney stacks. The render component used 7,600m² of spray-applied render, worked with G5 render pump technology, followed by manual application of the final silicon topcoat.

Each property also received new soil, waste and rainwater pipes from the Marley deep flow range, and all facias and soffits were replaced with new 19mm UPVC. The result is a warm, comfortable and affordable home for residents with a 25-year insurance backed guarantee behind it.

TWO BUILDING TYPES

Tenement blocks and end terraces need different detailing and different sequencing, delivered under one contract and one eighteen-week programme.
