A fabric and roof upgrade to 154 tenement flats in Dundee, delivered for Dundee City Council with funding partner SSE, converting the whole external fabric of these buildings from old to new in eighteen weeks.
What the job involved
IRS acted as Principal Contractor under the CDM Regulations 2015, installing a new Alsecco Ecomin 300 insulated render system across 154 tenement flats. The External Wall Insulation covered 6,800m², bringing the properties up to current building standards and materially improving living conditions for homeowners and tenants, backed by a 25-year insurance guarantee.
Most properties also had a full roof upgrade: stripping, preparation and installation of new fire stops, followed by Russell Grampian tiles. Roofing works covered 3,500m² of new roof coverings and included removing and disposing of redundant chimney stacks.
To complete the overhaul, all soil, waste and rainwater pipes were renewed using the Marley range, and facias and soffits replaced with hardwearing UPVC to cut future maintenance for residents.
A full fabric and roof transformation across 154 occupied flats, delivered inside eighteen weeks with the funding partner and the council working to the same programme.
