Location: St Mary’s, Dundee

Value: £2.2 million

Project Duration: 18 Weeks

Contract: Bespoke Partnering Agreement

Client Team: Dundee City Council / SSE

IRS Construction, appointed as Principal Contractors under the CDM Construction Design Management Regulations 2015, successfully executed the St Mary’s Fabric and Roof Upgrade for Dundee City Council and SSE as a funding partner. The project involved installing a new Structherm Structural Insulated Render system on 89 properties, comprising 7 three-story tenement flats (43 properties) and 46 end terrace properties.

For the three-story properties, a comprehensive new roofing system with Russell Grampian tiles was installed, covering approximately 2000m2 of new roof area and involving the removal of redundant chimney stacks. The render component utilised 7600m2 of spray-applied render, showcasing expertise with G5 render pump technology, followed by the manual application of the final silicon topcoat.

In addition to the rendering work, each property received new soil, waste, and rainwater pipes utilising the Marley deep flow range. The project also included the replacement of all facias and soffits with new 19mm UPVC, enhancing the properties and ensuring a warm, comfortable, and affordable environment for residents, with the added piece of mind of a 25-year insurance backed guarantee.
